Sofia Pereira is an elected official, “policy wonk,” TEDx speaker, and expert in women’s political leadership. Her work has reached thousands of women pursuing political careers across the country.
Sofia is a 2014 graduate of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale, after which she ran successfully for the Arcata City Council, where she has served as Mayor and Vice Mayor. She was re-elected in 2018.
Sofia has trained women through organizations like She Should Run, and offers one-on-one and small group coaching. An accomplished speaker, Sofia has engaged and inspired audiences from universities, conferences, and grassroots organizations. Her extensive political and policy expertise includes her time as a field representative for a California legislator, and as county legislative staff where she focused on state and federal policy. Aside from her personal runs for office, Sofia has worked on political campaigns from the local to congressional level. During her time on the city council, Sofia has moved forward bold initiatives, unafraid to tackle the tough issues. This experience fuels her work to elevate other women into political leadership.
